There are many words to describe the performance style of Jodi Melnick, but needy isn’t one of them. Martha Graham used to say that the center of the stage was wherever she was; the same is true of Ms. Melnick. Somewhere deep in the bones of this choreographer and dancer lies a laudable power to take ordinary gestures and give them opulence. One by one, movements disappear and re-form, like a stop-motion animation.
